"I hope life treats you kind
And I hope you have all you've dreamed of.
And I wish to you, joy and happiness.
But above all this, I wish you love. "

- Whitney Houston, "I will always love you"

When people want to wish you good things, love often ends up being among them. If you actually believe that others' wishes upon you can affect your life (as I do, kind of), then you absolutely must insist they be specific. I guess life has her ways of teaching us lessons. Because, if you hope for someone to fall in love with you, what good is it, if you don't feel the same? Or on the contrary, what good is loving someone if they don't return the sentiment? I have learned something new: love is not objectively good. Of course one needs to be careful with other things as well - doesn't seem right to wish success to a serial killer. But generally speaking, things like joy, luck, happiness, good grades, etc. never hurt anybody. Love sometimes does.
